At South Pennine Academies, we want every student to have the best possible chance to
achieve in school. Stronger partnerships with families, local businesses, community
agencies and universities are essential as we focus on improving student outcomes.
Willowpark Primary Academy is fully inclusive and welcomes all children with a wide range of Special Educational Needs & Disabilities (SEND).
We are a person-centered school and as such ensure our children and their families are at the centre of everything we offer.
All children at Willowpark are supported to thrive and to achieve their potential, regardless of any SEND. Children identified as having a SEND have the same access to high quality teaching and engaging learning environments as all other children in school and, in addition, will have a support plan and one page profile which will outline their strengths and difficulties and ensure all staff in school are aware of the most appropriate teaching strategies to use to ensure the best progress possible is made.
All children at Willowpark access the curriculum at a level which challenges them to make progress across all areas of school life. We encourage and support children to strive to achieve their potential. All teachers at Willowpark are teachers of children with SEND and as such provide high quality teaching which takes account of the particular individual needs of children with SEND within their classrooms. Where a child’s SEND is supported through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) support staff are deployed to provide targeted support and in some cases, alternative provision, to children.
Our Academy has a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) who is responsible for the management of provision and support for identified pupils with SEND.
Our SENCO: Mrs Katrina Moran
If you wish to speak directly to our SENCO please contact the main school office on 0161 3695699 and you will be transferred or via email info@willowpark.spacademies.org
We would always encourage parents, carers and families to contact us if they have any concerns regarding SEND provision for their child. Mrs Moran, our SENDCO will be happy to discuss this with you. Please contact her through the school office.
At Willowpark, we recognise the value is adaptive teaching practise, both to scaffold learning and challenge learning for each child.
We have employed a range of strategies across the academy which are embedded within our classroom practise to both support learning for those children that need a more guided approach and a little extra support to achieve the desired outcome, or those that need more challenge to deepen their learning and understanding.
