Reading at home
Reading with your child regularly at home is essential to practise and apply their phonics knowledge as well as helping to develop their understanding of a range of texts. hen your child is ready, they will bring home a decodable reading book to read with an adult each night for a minimum of five minutes.
Your child will also bring home a library book each week as reading for pleasure is also essential too! We want to create learners who read for pleasure. Reading to your child models phonics and reading skills and helps them to understand how stories are structured. It also a lovely activity to do with your child and is enjoyable for all involved.
Please ensure your child's reading book is in school every day.
