Eco-Council
Our Eco Council is made up of children from across school who work hard to make sure we are Eco-Conscious in our school.
Our Amazing Eco Council have been awarded the Eco-Schools Green flag award in recognition of their ecological achievements of our young people! This is an International Accreditation that recognises and celebrates all their hard work!
We can't wait to display our flag proudly in our school grounds!
This year they have been involved in;
The Big Battery Hunt
We have been collecting batteries that are no longer in use so they can be recycled! We managed to collect an amazing 2929 batteries! These will now be sent for recycling and will now be saved from ending up in landfill! Brilliant work Willowpark!
The Great Big School Clean up
The Eco Council took part in the schools clean up campaign by litter picking across our school site and local area to make sure wildlife has a safe habitat and to make the areas tidy for everyone to use. We contributed to the campaign that aimed to get every child who attended school to pick up one bag of litter - if everyone achieved this, 10.3 million bags of litter would be removed from our outdoor spaces! We even made the local paper - see the link below

Eco Councillors clean up their local area
We were so proud of 2 of our Y2 students who were inspired to help tidy up and clean their local area during the school holidays-what an inspiration they are! Well done
Purchasing New Recycling Bins
The Eco Council have worked with Miss Symes-Thompson to buy new Recycling bins for our classrooms and offices. They will be helping Mr Smith to make sure the paper in these bins is properly recycled each week - Great job everyone!
Eco Code Competition
As part of our ongoing work in school, we are focusing on Waste, Energy and Litter. With this in mind, our Eco Council asked pupils across school to design a Willowpark Eco Code focusing on how we can all help improve things in theses areas!
We had lots of amazing entries but our winning design was the work of one of our Y3 pupils!
It is now on display in our classes and around our school.
